The 2020 Trail Construction Grant Program is currently open to receive applications for funding trail construction projects under the Morris County Preservation Trust Fund. All municipalities in Morris County are qualified and encouraged to apply for funding.

The application process includes two (2) steps.
Step 1: Letter of Intent
The first is a Letter of Intent (LOI) which documents ownership of the property where proposed project will be constructed and provides an initial estimate of project costs and requested grant amounts. The Letter of Intent is due by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
STEP 2: Full Application
The second step is to complete a full application to provide specific details about including how the proposed project will be constructed and project costs. The Full Application is due by 4:00 PM on Monday, August 31, 2020.

All first-time applicants are required to attend a Pre-Application Meeting so that we can familiarize you with the details of the program. However, we encourage all applicants to schedule a Pre-Application Meeting so that we can assist to guide your project and simplify the application process.
We anticipate that meetings will be conducted via phone or video conference. Pre-Application meetings will be scheduled from May through August 2020. Contact the Program Coordinator to schedule.
Application Deadlines & Submission Requirements
The Letter of Intent and supporting ownership documentation must be submitted to the Morris County Park Commission via email at [email protected] by 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
Submit three (3) copies and one (1) electronic copy of the 2020 Trail Construction Grant Application, and all other supporting documentation outlined in the checklist, to the Morris County Park Commission by 4:00 P.M. on Monday, August 31, 2020.

The Program will consider extensions of the application deadlines on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Program Coordinator to request deadline extensions.
The Program Coordinator may contact applicants to clarify information submitted with your application. Applicants should be prepared to respond to questions and provide additional information as requested.
